Arrival in Ha Giang Your adventure begins as you arrive in the charming town of Ha Giang. Known for its stunning karst landscapes and vibrant ethnic minority communities, Ha Giang is the perfect starting point for your Vietnam cycling tour. After settling in, take some time to explore the town and soak in the local culture.
Ha Giang to Quan Ba The first leg of your Ha Giang loop tour takes you from Ha Giang to Quan Ba, a picturesque town surrounded by lush green valleys and towering limestone mountains. As you pedal along winding roads, you'll be captivated by the serene beauty of the Ha Giang scenic route. Don't forget to take a break and visit the famous Twin Mountains, a natural wonder that symbolizes Quan Ba.
Quan Ba to Yen Minh Continuing your journey, you'll cycle from Quan Ba to Yen Minh, a small town known for its terraced rice fields and traditional stilt houses. This part of the Vietnam bikepacking adventure offers a glimpse into the daily lives of local ethnic communities, such as the Hmong and Tay people. Immerse yourself in their rich culture and traditions as you explore the area.
Yen Minh to Dong Van On the fourth day, you'll head towards Dong Van, one of the most scenic destinations on the Ha Giang bicycle tour. This leg of the trip takes you through the awe-inspiring Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, a UNESCO-recognized site. The dramatic landscapes, with their rugged cliffs and deep valleys, will leave you in awe. Make sure to visit the historic Dong Van Old Quarter and the lively local market.
Dong Van to Meo Vac The journey from Dong Van to Meo Vac is a highlight of the 7-day Ha Giang adventure. As you navigate the twisting roads, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, often referred to as one of the most beautiful mountain passes in Vietnam. The challenging climb is rewarded with breathtaking vistas that make this Vietnam mountain biking experience truly unforgettable.

This peaceful village is surrounded by lush forests and tranquil rivers, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Take the opportunity to relax and unwind, or explore the natural beauty of the area on foot.

As you reflect on your Vietnam bikepacking adventure, you'll feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. The memories of the stunning landscapes, the warm hospitality of the local people, and the thrill of conquering the Ha Giang loop tour will stay with you long after you return home.
Day 01: Hanoi – Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we set off on an exciting adventure, leaving the city behind and heading to the north-east of Vietnam. Get ready to be blown away by the incredible scenery and lush landscapes along the way to the Far North of Vietnam! You'll even get to have lunch with the local people!

We set off this morning, raring to go! We're heading out of town on a cycling adventure, taking in the stunning scenery of terraced rice paddy fields along the way. We then have the incredible opportunity to cycle through minority villages, before embarking on the next 25km up winding roads into the vast limestone mountain range with its perpendicular walls of rock. We'll be climbing 800m towards the mountain road pass "Heaven Gate 1" – what an adventure! As we pass through mountain villages sometimes covered by cloud, we will receive a friendly greeting from the local communities, which is always a wonderful surprise! From the pass, we can enjoy incredible views, including the famous Tam Son Valley with its stunning Twin Hills and the town of Quan Ba. We'll have lunch on the summit and soak in the breathtaking scenery. After a delicious lunch, we're off again on our bikes! We'll be riding down to the river and then along to Gam river until we meet another pass. We start off with a few km of climbing, but it's totally worth it! Then it's downhill for 10km, and then we're treated to another 10km of relatively flat terrain. It's a challenging up-and-down terrain to an altitude of 1.025m, but it's totally worth it! Then we have the chance to see the traditional homes of the local hill tribes. The communities in this area are Chinese.

Day 03: Yen Minh – Mau Due – Lung Phin - Dong Van
Today is an amazing day for cycling in the incredible Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark! We took a detour onto a minor road that took us on a lovely, rolling route before descending into the valley. Here we have the amazing opportunity to ride through tiny hill-tribe communities and eventually reach a bustling village market where we will find a dazzling array of brightly-costumed villagers trading everything from piglets to bamboo shoots and forest fodder.
After following a river for a short while, we come across the ruins of an ancient defensive wall. Just beyond, we start to climb! A gradient similar to the day before is a fantastic warm-up before the main climb to come after lunch. As we enter the Ha Giang Plateau, the scenery is already impressive, but it is nothing short of mind-blowing! At each stage, you find yourself wondering how on earth you could possibly continue to climb when you've already climbed so much, but it just goes on and on with an amazing variety of scenery. When you finally descend into Dong Van, a beer and a feast will be a welcome sight, and the news that you have just managed the epic Ha Giang Plateau climb will ensure you get a good night's sleep!

Get ready for an amazing day of cycling in the heart of the incredible Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark! Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then head over to the nearby hill tribe market for a quick visit.
After that, it's time to hit the road on the way of Happiness to Dong Van! As you cycle up to the summit, you are rewarded with unparalleled views of pristine nature and the magnificent Karst Plateau scenery! Next, we'll stop to visit and explore the incredible Hmong King Palace (also known as Vuong Chi Sinh Palace). Then, we'll continue cycling to the breathtaking Lung Cu Pole Flag Tower!
As we cycle along the modest road from Dong Van to Meo Vac, we are treated to spectacular views of a vast gorge. This road is a real treat! Winding and undulating, it offers incredible views of the Nho Que River below. From the Ma Phi Leng Pass, we look down from an altitude of around 1500m into the valley. Tonight, we'll stay in the small town of Meo Vac. It's a real hidden gem! Most of the tribes living here have preserved their way of life from outside influence, and it's amazing to see how they've managed to do that. Travelling to Meo Vac was almost impossible until the recent construction of new roads, so it's a real privilege to be here!

Then, we'll be zigzagging through the cliffs on concrete to reach the Sa Phin village. And now for the best part! The long slope begins to pass through the towering cat-eared rocky mountains or weaves through a forest of high sharp rocks to create a scene that is as majestic, mysterious and poetic as contemplative rock paintings. It's a truly awe-inspiring sight, boasting the vastness of heaven and earth.
Our journey quickly descends to the valley, where we meet the second pass, the M-pass. This incredible crossing takes us across both sides of the mountain range, leading us to the stunning Mau Due valley for lunch.
