After checking into your hotel, you’ll have free time to explore this small but historically significant town. The Plain of Jars remains one of Laos’ most intriguing historical sites, with over 60 locations scattered across the Xiengkhouang Plateau. Only three of these sites have been surveyed due to the thick brush and UXO contamination. The jars, some of which stand over 3 meters high, are believed to be around 2,500 to 3,000 years old, adding to their mystique. According to local legend, King Khoun Chuang ordered the construction of these stone jars to store wine for a grand celebration after his victory in the 6th century.
