Day 06: Ha Giang – Yen Minh

We begin our cycling adventure this morning by leaving Ha Giang and setting off on the first 25 km of our journey, navigating winding roads through lush terraced rice paddies and ethnic minority villages. The terrain gradually transitions as we ride further into the stunning limestone mountain range. After an exhilarating climb of 800 meters, we reach the “Heaven Gate 1” mountain pass, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Tam Son Valley and the Twin Hills. From here, we can also spot the charming town of Quan Ba nestled below. As we cycle through the mountain villages, sometimes veiled by mist, the friendly greetings from local communities will make this experience even more memorable. We’ll enjoy a scenic lunch at the pass, surrounded by the picturesque landscapes of North Vietnam's rugged terrain. After lunch, we continue our ride, descending toward the Gam River, where we will pedal along its serene banks before facing another pass. The terrain presents a challenging mix of uphill climbs, a 10 km descent, and relatively flat stretches for the next 10 km. We ascend to an altitude of 1,025 meters before embarking on a final descent, bringing us into Yen Minh, where we’ll be greeted by the traditional homes of the local hill tribes. Day 08: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac

Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture and stunning landscapes of northern Vietnam as we cycle through remote mountain roads. Dong Van and Meo Vac are home to several ethnic hill tribes, including the White Hmong, Tay, and Lo Lo people. Each day, a bustling local market is held in the heart of both towns, where women in brightly colored traditional clothing carry bamboo baskets filled with fresh corn and vegetables. Our cycling adventure begins with a challenging yet rewarding ride through the Ma Phi Leng Pass, which connects Dong Van and Meo Vac. This route offers breathtaking views, especially as we cycle along the mountain slopes, where we can admire the spectacular scenery and the crystal-clear waters of the Nho Que River below. We’ll start with a smooth, flat 2 km stretch, before tackling a 7 km uphill climb with sharp turns as we ascend to the top of the pass. The views along the way are absolutely mesmerizing. Once we reach the summit, we’ll enjoy a thrilling 16 km descent along the hillside into Meo Vac Town. Upon arrival, we’ll regroup and face another 7 km climb to the summit before descending toward Ly Bon Bridge. From there, a relatively gentle uphill climb will lead us into the final stretch—a 30 km descent along flat terrain. As we ride, we’ll pass through charming local villages, where members of the hill tribes can be seen wearing their vibrant traditional costumes. The road stretches through rugged and at times dangerous mountain paths, with elevation ranging from three to fifteen stories high. The ride kicks off on a tarmac road, gently climbing up a hill to the Pac Po Monument, located between towering mountain ranges and a peaceful river, near the China border at milestone 108 km. Pac Po is historically significant as the site where Ho Chi Minh began the Vietnam Revolution, offering a glimpse into the country’s revolutionary past. This visit provides valuable insight into Ho Chi Minh’s life and the post-Vietnamese Revolution era. After paying tribute at the historical monument, we continue cycling through rustic hill tribe villages and follow the border belt to Nam Nhung Commune for a well-deserved refreshment break. The route then leads us on a mix of terrain, including gravel roads, off-the-beaten-path trails, and village roads, guiding us to Luu Ngoc Commune for a relaxing picnic lunch.  Refueled and ready, we hop back on our bikes and pedal along a scenic route, winding through magnificent limestone mountains, lush rice paddies, and tranquil rivers to Nam Tra Village. Our journey takes us deeper into Vietnam’s Global Geopark, a UNESCO-listed natural wonder, where we turn onto a dirt road and single-track trails. We cycle through rustic villages, admire lush rice paddies, and ride alongside the serene Quay Son River, all while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding natural beauty. Day 12: Ban Gioc – Quang Uyen

Day 15: Halong Bay – Hanoi – Onward Journey

Wake up to the gentle sounds of lapping bay waters as the sun rises over Halong Bay. Start your day with an early morning dip in the tranquil waters, followed by a delicious breakfast. Relax on the upper deck while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the limestone islands rising from the emerald waters of the bay.  After breakfast, take the opportunity to explore Sung Sot Cave, swim, or simply unwind and immerse yourself in the serene surroundings. As we cruise back to the jetty, brunch will be served on board, allowing you to continue admiring the stunning rock formations and scenic vistas of Halong Bay. Upon cruise check-out, meet our van for a direct transfer to Noi Bai Airport. From here, you will catch your onward flight. Our Vietnam cycling tour concludes with unforgettable memories of exploring the natural wonders and cultural gems of northern Vietnam.
