Itinerary

If you're looking for an off-the-beaten-track adventure, look no further than Ha Giang! This hidden gem is more than 200 km from Hanoi, in the northeast of Vietnam. It's the last province of the country to open to visitors in recent years, and it's easy to see why! From the spectacular scenery to the primeval forests and high mountains, Ha Giang has it all! The area is home to some incredible natural fortresses, carved into steps and divided by fanciful stone alleys.
This incredible landscape has been home to many generations of H'Mong people for generations!
The incredible, winding roads of the
Ha Giang rocky plateau are an adventure for those who love to explore and move, and they'll take your breath away with their sheer beauty! The roads are always lined with a green carpet, full of vitality and creating a breathtaking scene that is both poetic and mysterious. It is an indescribable experience that will leave you dazzled with a series of emotions.
Get ready to be blown away by the incredible scenery on our
Ha Giang Bicycle Tour! The adventurous cyclist will be treated to a truly breathtaking landscape of limestone pinnacles and granite outcrops. Get ready to push your limits as you challenge some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. The cycling route between Yen Minh and Dong Van, and then across the Mai Pi Leng Pass to Meo Vac is nothing short of mind-blowing!
Get ready for an incredible journey as you embark on a
bike ride along Happiness Road to explore the wonders of the Dong Van Plateau, the vibrant Khau Vai Love Market, the breathtaking Quan Ba Sky Gate, and the mysterious, majestic, twisting and winding passes that have been hidden in dense clouds, far down the valley. Along the way, you'll also discover the cozy and rustic villages of the H'mong people.
The 7-day
Ha Giang cycling tour is an absolutely exhilarating way to uncover the hidden charm of the rocky Dong Van plateau! A registered UNESCO Global Geopark, an incredible 80% of the terrain is covered by rock, and it is said to contain fossils from 400 - 600 million years ago! Dong Van is a hidden gem nestled in a valley in the heart of the Rock Plateau. It's a truly unique place, situated right on the Chinese border and surrounded by lush mountain forest and vibrant multi-coloured orchids. Dong Van is a melting pot of cultures, home to Chinese Hoa, H'mong, Tay and Kinh people. The houses are built in a traditional Chinese style, adding to the town's charm.

Day 01: Hanoi – Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang Cycle Loop

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we set off on an exciting adventure, leaving the city behind and heading to the north-east of Vietnam. We'll be exploring single track trails, dirt roads, and even buffalo roads, crossing streams and passing through picturesque rice terrace paddy fields.  As we ride, we meet different hill tribes, such as the Coin Dzao, Tay, Nung and Hmong people, who have been living in this area for hundreds of years. They create dreamlike scenery and unique cultural values. Cycling on back roads leads to eco-villages where we can relax and observe the daily life of people in this community. We then have the incredible opportunity to cycle through minority villages, before embarking on the next 25km up winding roads into the vast limestone mountain range with its perpendicular walls of rock. We'll be climbing 800m towards the mountain road pass "Heaven Gate 1" – what an adventure! As we pass through mountain villages sometimes covered by cloud, we will receive a friendly greeting from the local communities, which is always a wonderful surprise! From the pass, we can enjoy incredible views, including the famous Tam Son Valley with its stunning Twin Hills and the town of Quan Ba. We'll have lunch on the summit and soak in the breathtaking scenery. After a delicious lunch, we're off again on our bikes!  Day 03: Yen Minh – Mau Due – Lung Phin - Dong Van Bike Tour

Today is an amazing day for cycling in the incredible Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark! We took a detour onto a minor road that took us on a lovely, rolling route before descending into the valley. Here we have the amazing opportunity to ride through tiny hill-tribe communities and eventually reach a bustling village market where we will find a dazzling array of brightly-costumed villagers trading everything from piglets to bamboo shoots and forest fodder.
After following a river for a short while, we come across the ruins of an ancient defensive wall. Just beyond, we start to climb! A gradient similar to the day before is a fantastic warm-up before the main climb to come after lunch. As we enter the Ha Giang Plateau, the scenery is already impressive, but it is nothing short of mind-blowing! At each stage, you find yourself wondering how on earth you could possibly continue to climb when you've already climbed so much, but it just goes on and on with an amazing variety of scenery. When you finally descend into Dong Van, a beer and a feast will be a welcome sight, and the news that you have just managed the epic Ha Giang Plateau climb will ensure you get a good night's sleep!

Get ready for an amazing day of cycling in the heart of the incredible Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark! Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then head over to the nearby hill tribe market for a quick visit.

Next, we'll stop to visit and explore the incredible Hmong King Palace (also known as Vuong Chi Sinh Palace). Then, we'll continue cycling to the breathtaking Lung Cu Pole Flag Tower!
As we cycle along the modest road from Dong Van to Meo Vac, we are treated to spectacular views of a vast gorge. This road is a real treat! Winding and undulating, it offers incredible views of the Nho Que River below. From the Ma Phi Leng Pass, we look down from an altitude of around 1500m into the valley. Tonight, we'll stay in the small town of Meo Vac. It's a real hidden gem! Most of the tribes living here have preserved their way of life from outside influence, and it's amazing to see how they've managed to do that. Travelling to Meo Vac was almost impossible until the recent construction of new roads, so it's a real privilege to be here!
