Cycling Journey Through Hanoi’s Handicraft Villages
Our full-day Hanoi bicycle tour takes you beyond the city’s hustle and bustle into the serene countryside, where you’ll experience the authentic beauty of Vietnam’s traditional craft villages.
Chuong Village – The Art of Conical Hat Making
Our journey begins with a transfer to the outskirts of Hanoi, where we start cycling through tranquil rural landscapes. Our first stop is Chuong Village, renowned for crafting Non La (Vietnamese conical hats). Essential for farmers, these hats provide protection from the sun and rain while symbolizing the grace and elegance of Vietnamese women. Paired with the traditional ao dai, Non La remains an iconic part of Vietnam’s cultural heritage.
Binh Da Village – Traditional Firecracker Making
We continue pedaling to Binh Da Village, historically known for its traditional firecracker-making craftsmanship. Though firecracker production has declined due to regulations, the village’s rich cultural legacy remains deeply rooted in its history and traditions.
Quang Phu Cau Incense Village – A Spiritual Heritage
Cycling along scenic dike roads and lush green fields, we arrive at Quang Phu Cau Incense Village. With a history spanning hundreds of years, this village is famous for producing handcrafted incense sticks, widely used in religious ceremonies, ancestor worship, and Buddhist rituals. The vibrant red incense bundles drying under the sun create a mesmerizing sight, making this village a must-visit destination.
To He Village – A Traditional Art Form
Our journey takes us through peaceful village roads to To He Village, where artisans craft To He figurines from glutinous rice flour. Using natural food colorings and expert craftsmanship, these artisans shape intricate figurines of animals, cultural icons, and national heroes. This folk art has been passed down for generations, offering a delightful glimpse into Vietnam’s artistic heritage.
Hoa Xa Silk & Lotus Weaving Village – The Elegance of Lotus Silk
The final stop on our tour is Hoa Xa Silk Village, a traditional textile hub specializing in cotton and silk weaving for centuries. Recently, artisan Thuat has pioneered an innovative technique of extracting silk fibers from lotus stems, creating a luxurious fabric with a natural fragrance. Through patience and skill, local artisans produce delicate, soft, and eco-friendly lotus silk, a rare and exquisite textile sought after worldwide. Join us on this Full-Day Hanoi Bicycle Tour and experience the timeless beauty of Vietnam’s traditional handicraft villages firsthand!
