Get ready for an incredible journey from Hanoi to Sapa as we explore the stunning Vietnamese countryside. Our route will take you through breathtaking locations such as Muong Khuong, Bac Ha, Ban Pho, Hoang Thu Pho, Si Chen, Can Cau, Lung Phinh, Ban Lien, Trung Do, Lao Cai, Sapa, Seo My Ty, Nam Cang, and Xuan Giao. This cycling tour offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the spectacular beauty of northern Vietnam.
Sapa is a magical destination, located 1,500 meters (4,921 feet) above sea level in the remote northwest mountains of Vietnam. Known for its breathtaking scenery and cultural diversity, Sapa is a must-visit for nature lovers and culture enthusiasts. Nestled in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range near the Chinese border, Sapa is often referred to as the "Tonkinese Alps" for its majestic mountains and lush landscapes. The region is home to a diverse range of hill tribes, vibrant rice terraces, and the magnificent Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam.
Day 1: Lao Cai – Pick up and Transfer to Bac Ha Market – Explore Northern Vietnam
Your adventure begins with an early train ride to Lao Cai Station at 5 a.m., where you’ll be greeted by our friendly local guide. With a warm welcome and your name on a sign, you’ll be swiftly escorted to a support vehicle where your luggage will be securely loaded. Depending on your cycling tour itinerary, you may begin your exploration of northern Vietnam or head directly to the lively Bac Ha Market. This flexible itinerary ensures you’ll visit the best local markets at the perfect times, such as Coc Ly Market (Tuesday), Cao Son Market (Sunday), Muong Khuong Market (Wednesday), Lung Khau Nhin Market (Thursday), Sin Chen Market (Saturday), and the famous Bac Ha Market on Sunday.
The scenic drive from Lao Cai to Muong Khuong for the Sunday Market, or from Coc Ly to Bac Ha, offers an unforgettable experience. As you travel through the lush rice terraces and dramatic valleys, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the towering mountains, often shrouded in morning mist. This journey sets the tone for an adventure packed with vibrant markets, ethnic minority cultures, and the stunning natural beauty of northern Vietnam.

Day 02: Bac Ha – Ta Van Chu – Sin Chen – Si Ma Cai – Lung Phinh – Cycling Through Northern Vietnam
After a replenishing breakfast at the hotel, we’ll hop back on our bikes and ride along the rugged roads leading to Ban Pho village. Here, you'll have the chance to explore the distinctive Hmong architecture and immerse yourself in the everyday life of this vibrant community.
Next, we’ll cycle on a fantastic concrete road that winds up and down the hillsides, offering stunning views of the surrounding villages and lush valleys. The highlight of the journey is descending into a deep valley in Hoang Thu Pho, followed by an ascent into Ta Van Chu village. Here, you’ll marvel at the plum gardens and pear plantations as we continue our ride on a single-track trail and dirt roads. These trails wind through rice fields, local homes, and charming ethnic minority villages.
We’ll gear up for a thrilling 12km ride along a local trail to Quan Than San. From there, we’ll head left onto another single-track trail to Nan Sin summit, offering an amazing mountain biking experience!
The adventure continues as we descend for 12 km on single-track paths and beaten tracks to Sin Chen Market and Si Ma Cai township. This is where you’ll truly experience the rich culture and lifestyle of the Flower Hmong people, and enjoy a traditional picnic lunch hosted by a local Hmong family.
After refueling, we’ll continue cycling along secondary roads and village paths leading back to Can Cau and Lung Phinh commune, ready to take on more incredible landscapes and unforgettable cultural encounters in northern Vietnam.

Day 03: Bac Ha – Lung Phinh – Ban Lien – Nam Khanh – Bac Ha – Cycling through Vietnam’s Stunning Rice Terraces
Get ready for an unforgettable day filled with breathtaking scenery and rich cultural experiences as we cycle through rice terraces and vibrant hill tribe villages. Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of nature as you pedal through the scenic landscapes of northern Vietnam.
After a hearty breakfast to fuel up, we’ll take a brief transfer to avoid a steep pass and head towards Lung Phinh village. From there, we’ll embark on an exciting cycling journey along a single-track trail and dirt path, navigating rugged hill roads. Along the way, you’ll pass charming ethnic minority villages and enjoy stunning views of lush rice terraces before reaching Ta Cu Ty village.
Prepare to be amazed as we cycle through the Ta Cu Ty mountain range, where we’ll encounter a mix of loose rocky sections and dirt trails, crossing streams as we go. It’s a 22 km ride from Ta Cu Ty to Ban Lien village in Ban Ngo commune, passing through vibrant villages and hamlets of the Nung, Hmong, and Dao peoples. We’ll take a break for a delicious lunch, giving you a chance to recharge and soak in the natural beauty.
After refueling, we’ll continue our ride for 10 km through challenging yet rewarding terrain. The route will wind through mountainous and tropical forests, leading us to the summit where we’ll be treated to panoramic views of the stunning Nam Khanh valley. The final part of the day includes a thrilling descent to the hydro power plant’s dam, followed by a short but rewarding ascent. We’ll cycle along an undulating road leading us back to Bac Ha Town, where we’ll end the day’s ride.

Day 04: Bac Ha – Nam Khanh – Trung Do – Sapa – Cycling through Vietnam’s Scenic Countryside and Hill Tribe Villages
After a nutritious breakfast, we’ll set off to explore the largest and most vibrant market in Vietnam's mountainous region. Once you've experienced the local culture and lively atmosphere, we’ll hop on our bikes and begin an unforgettable ride through the picturesque Vietnam countryside.
Our cycling adventure starts from the farm stay, where we’ll pass rolling hillsides and corn farms, before reaching Nam Det village. Here, we’ll embark on a single-track trail that will lead us back to the asphalt road, guiding us to the Tan Duong section.
Along the way, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch to refuel, immersing ourselves in the local food culture. After lunch, we'll board a shuttle bus that will take us through stunning landscapes and a traditional hill tribe village to Lao Cai city.
Upon arrival in Lao Cai, we’ll continue our cycling tour through the northwest Vietnam region, heading towards the beautiful hilltop town of Sapa. From Lao Cai, we’ll cycle along the Red River bank, taking in breathtaking views of China and Vietnam. The gentle ride on tarmac and asphalt roads will lead us to Ban Vuoc section, where we’ll turn left onto a secondary road and begin a thrilling 23-kilometer ascent towards O Quy Ho village, famous for its stunning mountain views.

Day 05: Sapa – Sau Chua – Ta Phin – Tram Ton – Cat Cat – Sapa – Cycling through Sapa's Stunning Valleys, Rice Terraces, and Hill Tribe Villages
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll begin an exciting new cycling tour from Sapa, the hilltop town nestled in the Hoang Lien Son Mountains. Our route will take us down into the breathtaking Muong Hoa Valley, where we’ll turn onto a scenic single-track trail, winding through bamboo forests and lush canopy landscapes until we reach Sau Chua village, located in the northeast of Sapa.
This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of nature, with misty valleys, rugged mountains, and vibrant hill tribe villages. We’ll continue cycling along the single track, passing a traditional Hmong village, and then veer off the main road onto a secondary route, which weaves through rice terraces, rugged mountains, and local attractions like a ruined Catholic church.
The journey includes a 5 km ascent to the ruin church, followed by a descent back onto the single track towards Ta Phin village. Known for its Red Dao ethnic minority, Ta Phin offers a chance to explore the cultural traditions and unique way of life of this vibrant community.
After a fascinating cultural immersion, we’ll continue our cycling adventure through canopy forests and rice terraces, making our way toward O Quy Ho, the highest pass in Vietnam. From here, you’ll be treated to sweeping panoramic views of the Muong Hoa Valley, one of the most beautiful landscapes in northwest Vietnam.
The next stage of our ride takes us downhill through Sapa Valley, where we’ll pass stunning mountain views and lush rice paddy fields on our way to Sin Chai and Cat Cat Village. In Cat Cat, we’ll tackle a challenging steep pass, weaving through the mountainside until we reach Sapa Town. Should you need a break, a support vehicle will be ready to transfer you back to the hotel

Day 06: Sapa – O Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Su Pan – Nam Cang – Cycling through the Iconic Sapa Valley and Hill Tribe Villages
After a nourishing breakfast to fuel up for an exciting day, we’ll set off on our bikes from Sapa Town, descending into the breathtaking Muong Hoa Valley, one of the most stunning destinations in northwest Vietnam. Sapa Valley is renowned for its magnificent rice terraces, colorful hill tribe villages, and awe-inspiring mountain scenery. Say goodbye to the hustle and bustle of Sapa's tourist area and get ready for an unforgettable cycling adventure!
We’ll cycle through scenic roads and dirt tracks, making our way to the Black Hmong village of Y Linh Ho. Along the way, you’ll marvel at the majestic mountain landscapes and lush rice paddy fields. After reaching Y Linh Ho, we’ll continue along a concrete road, winding through bamboo groves and ethnic minority villages on our way to Lao Chai village. This is a great spot to take a break, enjoy a coffee or tea, and interact with the friendly locals while exploring the vibrant village life.
After recharging, it’s time to continue cycling through a variety of terrains, including paved roads, off-the-beaten-path trails, and single tracks. As we cross a suspension bridge, we’ll reach Lao Chai – Ta Van Village, where you’ll have the chance to chat with the locals and learn about their fascinating culture. A second bridge crossing will take us through Su Pan, then down to Den Thang, Thanh Kim, and Thanh Phu, where we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch with a welcoming local family.
Refueled and ready to go, we’ll continue cycling along single tracks and dirt roads, passing numerous villages, scenic streams, and lush landscapes on our way to Nam Cang Riverside Lodge. Here, we’ll stay overnight with a wonderful Dao family in a traditional homestay. After a day filled with adventure, you’ll enjoy a warm dinner and restful night in a peaceful rural setting.

Day 07: Full-Day Cycling Tour – Muong Hoa Valley – Seo My Ty Water Reservoir – Adventure in Sapa’s Stunning Landscapes
Start your day with a hearty breakfast to fuel up for an unforgettable three-day Sapa cycling tour through the breathtaking landscapes of Muong Hoa Valley and beyond. At 8:30 AM, we’ll begin our cycling adventure with an exhilarating uphill ride to Heavens Gate (Tram Ton Pass), the highest pass in Vietnam. Prepare to be amazed by the panoramic views of Muong Hoa Valley, where you can capture the scenic beauty of rice terraces, mountain ranges, and traditional villages along the way.
Next, we’ll descend into Sapa Valley, taking in the awe-inspiring scenery of lush mountains and rice paddy fields. After leaving the vibrant town of Sapa, we’ll turn off onto a dirt road leading to the Black Hmong village of Lao Chai, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the rich culture of the local Hmong people.
As we continue on, we’ll pass through more charming villages, including a fascinating settlement inhabited by the Giay tribe. Here, we’ll stop for a coffee and tea break at a local house, allowing you to engage with the friendly locals and learn more about their fascinating way of life.
Continuing our journey, we’ll cycle on a mix of asphalt roads and concrete paths before navigating some rugged dirt roads and challenging hills. The terrain may test your cycling skills, but the scenic beauty will make every pedal worth it! By noon, we’ll arrive at Seo My Ty, where you’ll enjoy a delicious picnic lunch while soaking in the stunning views of the crystal-clear lake.
After recharging, we’ll continue our journey around the lake, heading towards our amazing campsite for the night. Once we arrive, you can leave your bike behind and dive into the cool, refreshing waters of the lake to unwind. For an extra adventure, join in our fun kayaking activity on the serene lake, adding a perfect touch to this incredible day in Sapa.
