Day 12: Sapa – O Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Su Phan – Nam Cang
After a nourishing breakfast to fuel an active day ahead, we set off from our hotel, descending into the stunning Muong Hoa Valley to explore the highlights of Sapa.
This valley is famous for its magnificent rice terraces, vibrant hill tribe villages, and breathtaking scenic beauty.
As we leave the bustling Sapa tourist area behind, we’ll cycle through some of the most picturesque landscapes in northern Vietnam. We begin by riding downhill, taking in the fantastic views of mountains and lush rice paddy fields along the way.
After a short time, we make a turn onto a dirt road, cycling through the Black Hmong village of Y Linh Ho, and continue on a scenic route winding along bamboo groves, terraced rice fields, and traditional ethnic minority villages to Lao Chai, where we’ll stop for a coffee or tea break and explore the village.
Once refreshed, we hop back on our bikes and head through mixed terrain, including paved roads, off-the-beaten-path trails, single tracks, and dirt roads. We cross a suspension bridge to Lao Chai and Ta Van villages, where we’ll have the chance to interact with locals, visit their homes, and learn about their rich cultural heritage.
We continue cycling, crossing another bridge to a paved road leading us to Su Pan, then descend towards Den Thang, Thanh Kim, and Thanh Phu. We’ll stop for lunch at a local family’s home, experiencing the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality
As we cycle further, the terrain becomes more undulating, with steep passes adding an exciting challenge to the ride. The breathtaking scenery of limestone mountains and the tranquil hill tribe villages will captivate you as we approach the final stretch to Xuan Giao Section.
